There has been for ages an undertow of social change whose time has come. Criminal (In)Justice has been a powerful tentacle of white supremacy that has leveled irrevocable damage on the Black community in the United States. As this national reckoning takes center stage it is important to deepen our understanding of the connection between the institution of slavery and mass incarceration.

As a part of our ongoing resistance work focused on Mass Incarceration the One Spirit in Action team will host a workshop entitled Slavery to Mass Incarceration, What I wish I learned in History Class. Rev. Ty Holmes will facilitate an exploration of our shared past and illuminate a clear through-line to the present.
