Please join UUCP for today’s Zoom service, “The Tradition of Halloween” at 10:30 AM led by UUCP member, Michael Meyers-Jouan.
Today, Halloween is a commercial “holiday”. But that’s not how it originated. Let’s consider the origin of All Hallow’s Eve and the evolution to today’s secular celebration. Although Halloween is derived from All Hallow’s Eve, which is a Christian liturgical holiday, it also inherits from Samhain (pronounced /ˈsɑːwɪn, ˈsaʊɪn/ — so sue me). I’ll be talking about both.
