Topic: Understanding Implicit Bias
Date: Thursday, April 22
Time: 7:00 PM
What is Implicit (or Unconscious) Bias?
Implicit Bias describes the attitudes we have towards people or stereotypes associated with them without our conscious knowledge.
During our Sunday service “See No Stranger” we began to discuss Implicit Bias. In this week’s Conscious Conversation, we’ll experientially explore our understanding of Implicit Bias. Join us as we come together as a conscious community to explore and expand our understanding of implicit bias and what we can do about it.
Prior to our meeting all participants are encouraged to do a little homework! Just 2 things:
1- Watch this 12 min. video:
We all have implicit biases. So, what can we do about it? | Dushaw Hockett | TEDxMidAtlanticSalon
2 -Take 2 or 3 of the Harvard Implicit Bias Tests. There are lots of different topics to choose from.
The results are personal & confidential, for your knowledge only. Implicit Association Test (IAT)
