We are pleased to have two very accomplished visual artists for our “Artists on Their Art” series: Richard Karp and Cassandra Jennings Hall.
Richard Karp will talk about his approach to creating a painting, how art is actually a form of mediation and his explanation of the search for which is unknowable.
Cassandra will talk about how each painting starts the same way; one selected color on the canvas initiates an idea that evokes the beginning form with its own composition and design. Teased and stimulated by these developments, she adds one color on the top of another, layering white pigment in between to create a textured image. Brushstrokes create both rhythm and movement across the canvas. In these paintings her aim is to describe life’s emotions and represent nature’s mysteries in a more tangible form.
There will be time after for questions, discussion and some cookies.
We look forward to seeing you!
