Meet Rev. Laurene Williams – Activist. Counselor. Innovator. Minister. Yet “Spirited” best describes Reverend Laurene Williams—she’s as lively talking about spirituality as she is about her beloved Steelers. For her, there’s no difference between a congregation raising its voice ‘as one’ in worship and a stadium of fans raising its voice ‘as one’ to uplift a player or team to victory. Both embody a consciousness of oneness, connection to a unifying purpose and a sense of community and Spirit. Is it less powerful or profound because one is social and considered secular? Reverend Laurene doesn’t think so. She believes the societal paradigm of separation between “church and state” is as unnatural (and impossible) as separating our divinity from our humanity. The spiritual journey is to practice moving through the world as “wholly” as possible—-closing the gap between our own humanity and divinity by bringing down the wall of separation between us and our own souls. That is why “love” undergirds all spiritual, religious and faith traditions because it is The Great Unifier. Love connects us to our souls, to each other, to all of creation and living an “undivided life,” whereby who we are, what we do and how we do it is in alignment with our highest essence.
Sought after for her compelling conversations, engaging inquiries, sense of humor, and unique perspective, Reverend Laurene explores with people how to embody their personal truth in alignment with Spiritual Truth for greater fulfillment, delight, and peace of mind. This is accomplished through her writings, counseling, ministry, public speaking and transformational workshops, and innovative programs.
Reverend Laurene Williams is a board member of One Spirit Learning Alliance, the team lead of One Spirit in Action which is the activism branch of One Spirit’s Interfaith Seminary, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a public service sorority. She is from Westbury, LI where her mother still resides, and currently lives in Bloomfield, NJ.
