In 1492, Columbus landed on the shores of what is today the Dominican Republic and Haiti. One year later, Pope Alexander VI issued what has come to be known as the Doctrine of Discovery. To its shame, that doctrine has since been used by America to justify the forced migration and slaughter of indigenous peoples in the Americas and other parts of the world. Join us today as we consider a new doctrine of discovery and what is means for our future as a nation and for the world.
