Detention Watch Network’s “Communities Not Cages Campaign”
DWN and partners (including UUSC) have relaunched with the #FirstTen campaign calling on the Biden admin to take steps towards ending immigration detention by closing 10 detention facilities in 2021, including all 3 family detention centers.
Virtual Prayer Service for Liberation
Friday, April 2
2:00 PM
We’ll be hearing from formerly-detained immigrants who were in the #First10 Detention Facilities and are now part of organizing to close them, as well as from faith leaders across traditions. Stick around for the “action time” at the end of the prayer service to listen to live music and take action together.
Faith Leader Letter Sign-On
Whether an ordained faith leader or a lay leader, please sign this letter in support of the Communities Not Cages campaign. If you have ways to distribute it further, help us reach our goal of 1,000 signatures by this Friday — only 200 to go! Read and sign the letter here.
Organizational Endorsement of Communities Not Cages
Please help us push this administration to take immediate action towards ending immigration detention by:
- shutting down the #FirstTen to #CommunitiesNotCages
- releasing everyone detained at these facilities prior to closure
- halting all efforts to expand detention capacity
