In this sharing\, we will look at the “story behind the story” and learn more about an authentic friendship with significant impact. \nInvite a friend. Dr. Khadijah Matin – Called by some as a “woman who walls”\, Dr. Khadijah Matin is part of the national dialogue\, exploring culturally competent education\, research and healthcare services\, within accurate historical context. She currently provides guidance around workplace culture and inclusion and is one of the co—facilitators of the Interspiritual Counseling/Companioning program at One Spirit Learning Alliance. \nKhadijah’s research focus includes an examination of faith and family history in the shaping of identity and community\, including the varied ways in which history and spirituality intersect. She is a past national president of the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society; member of the Association of Muslim Chaplains and Chaplain General for the Society of the First African Families of English America. \nAlong with her designation as an Ariane de Rothschild Fellow\, Khadijah earned an MS in Education from Fordham University; her D.Min. Chani Getter – Rev. Chani Getter grew up in an ultra-orthodox-Hasidic Jewish home in Rockland County\, NY\, and at 18\, with barely a high school diploma\, Chani entered an arranged marriage. 5 years and 3 children later\, Chani left Chani’s husband and as a single parent\, began a journey of self-discovery.  While Chani’s parents initially supported the decision to leave the marriage\, Chani’s decision to get a driver’s license and buy a car was a deal breaker which led the family to disown Chani and Chani’s children. \nWhile working full-time and raising three children\, Chani received a bachelor’s in human development and went on to receive a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University. Chani’s deep spirituality called Chani to explore the many forms and expressions of the Divine.
