SUMMARY:LEARNING TO EXHALE - JOINT SERVICE AT UU CONGREGATION OF ROCKLAND
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our joint service held today at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockland at 10:30 AM. The service “Learning to Exhale” will be led by Rev. Dawn Sangrey. As we begin a new year together\, we ask ourselves these questions: How can I make room for the new in my life? What can I release\, let go of? What am I willing to surrender\, to question\, to sacrifice in order to realize the world that I believe in? How can I become more open to working with other people? What can we do together in this religious community to bring the world we live in closer to the world we long for? \nWe will car pool and meet at the Lydecker House at 9:30 AM. We will contribute to the pot luck lunch. Please bring a dish. Arlene Holpp Scala will coordinate the carpooling. Send all  questions and carpooling information (driver or rider) to Arlene at scalaa@wpunj.edu \nAddress:  \nUnitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockland \n130 Concklin Road\, \nPomona\, NY 10970 \nTel: (845) 354-1789 \n

SUMMARY:THE BODY POLITIC AND BODY POLITICS - Rev. Paul Dodenhoff
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for today’s service led by Rev. Paul Dodenhoff. In 1973\, The U.S. Supreme Court struck down state laws that had been restricting abortions during the first six months of pregnancy. The case\, (Roe vs. Wade)\, legalized abortion in the United States\, and was a giant leap forward in giving women the right to control their own bodies. Today\, that right and a host of others is under attack. How people of liberal religious faith respond to that attack will help determine the future not only of women rights but the rights of all citizens.  \nBring a friend and stay for coffee and light refreshments. We look forward to seeing you! \nPoster by: Liandra Pires

SUMMARY:"RUMI: POET OF THE HEART" FILM
DESCRIPTION:UUCP will be hosting a screening of the award winning film “RUMI: Poet of the Heart.”  For over seven hundred years\, Jalal ad-Din Rumi’s writings have enchanted\, inspired\, and enlightened Muslims\, Jews\, Christians\, Hindus\, and Buddhists. In the past two decades\, there has been an astounding resurgence of interest in Rumi and his poetry. Today\, he is one of the best-selling poets in the world. \n“RUMI: Poet of the Heart\,” is produced and directed by Haydn Reiss\, featuring Coleman Barks\, Robert Bly\, storyteller and mythologist Michael Meade\, religious historian Huston Smith\, and Deepak Chopra. It is narrated by Debra Winger with musical performances by oud virtuoso Hamza El Din and musician Jai Uttal offering inspiring accompaniment to this beautifully produced film. \nStay after the film for a discussion and reading of a few of Rumi’s poems not read in the film. Refreshments will be served. Donations appreciated. We look forward to seeing you! \nPoster by: Liandra Pires
