Sonia Ketchian and Special Guest\, Dr. Marysia Makowiecka at 10:30 a.m. \nJoin us for a Unitarian Universalist service with guest speaker Dr. Marysia Makowiecka as we explore Inanna’s Descent\, one of the oldest surviving literary works. This powerful Mesopotamian myth follows Inanna\, goddess of love\, war\, and justice\, on her journey to the underworld—a tale of sacrifice\, transformation\, and resilience. Associated with transgender and non-binary identities\, Inanna’s story offers timeless wisdom on navigating struggles and finding growth through life’s deepest trials. \nWe look forward to seeing you! \nPoster By: Liandra Pires \n  \nMeet Dr. Marysia Makowiecka- Maria Hanna Makowiecka\, Ph.D. is a professor of English at Bergen Community College\, where she teaches composition\, world literature and women’s literature courses. She enjoys participating in diversity and equity initiatives geared towards students and the college community such as poetry readings\, and women’s and gender studies events. She has written and presented on literary topics and published such books as On the Road: Women’s Literary Departures in Travel Narratives 1600-1900\, a family memoir From Wielick to Wola Suchożebrska\, or the History of One Question. Her current research concerns the family narratives from Podolia.
