A Week of Reproductive Rights, Access, and Action

Since the day the Reproductive Freedom Act was introduced, the goal has always been equity, access, and justice.

More than a year later, lawmakers have yet to pass this critical legislation, but we’re not backing down. Instead, we’re doubling down on what the fight for reproductive freedom in New Jersey is truly about: we need access for all.

That’s why we’re joining our coalition, Thrive New Jersey, for a Week of Action to say: New Jersey must pass the full Reproductive Freedom Act before the end of this legislative session. Declaring rights is not enough.

We don’t need to imagine a future where someone who needs abortion care can’t access it – it already exists. Far too many New Jerseyans – particularly in Black, brown, immigrant, low-income, and LGBTQ+ communities – cannot access reproductive health care, including abortion and contraception, due to their income level, immigration status, or insurance status.

It’s past time that we ensure that everyone who can become pregnant can access the care they need. It’s time to pass the Reproductive Freedom Act – all of it.

In solidarity,

ACLU of New Jersey
