Judy has been and continues to be involved in numerous teams and activities within UUCP. She was a Trustee of UUCP ; sings in the choir ("Thank you Roberta for your patience with me!"); reads and discusses wonderful books with the Multi-Cultural Reading Group ("There are openings for people who love to read");co-taught the Coming of Age group ("What a great trip to Boston!"); and continues to learn about herself and increases her sensitivity to others through workshops and discussion groups sponsored by the Social Justice Team. Judy feels the greatest joy from being in these activities"is the very special, talented, hard-working, creative people I get to now whose wonderful ideas enrich my life and help me grow intellectually, artistically and spiritually." Judy says that she realizes now that she has been a Unitarian Universalist "all my life." Twenty-five 25 years ago she formally joined a Unitarian congregation. Five years ago, when she and her husband, Kewal were making plans to marry and were in search of a minister, Lee Reid was recommended to them. This was her introduction to the UUCP. "Lee married us just days before she was fatally injured. She will always live on in our wedding pictures and video!" She joined the UUCP shortly afterward. Being a Unitarian Universalist is very important to Judy. "It provides me with a diverse community where I can be myself, grow in many ways, and work with others to create a more just and kinder world. |
