Dear Fellow congregants,

A couple of weeks ago we completed two workshops, facilitated by the Metro NY District, that helped us to decide on a single, internal and external focus for our congregation that is in line with our mission. The internal focus is on articulating our faith and the external focus will be to utilize our annual Jazz event to make the larger community aware of who we are. I know that after receiving Maj-Britt’s email the other day, many of you are now asking, ‘What happens next?’ Your Board of trustees has arranged for a workshop on Saturday, April 5th given by Jane Dwinell, to help us to determine our optimum organizational structure and to determine the ministerial option that we would like for the next year.

Who is Jane Dwiinell? A number of weeks back, 5 of your fellow congregants attended a workshop at Community Church in New York entitled “Big Ideas for Small Congregations.” The workshop was given by Jane Dwinell who is co-author, along with Ellen Germann-Melosh, of a book of the same name. Those of us who attended were impressed and excited by what we heard. Additionally, much of the content of the last congregational workshop we did with the district was aligned with ideas presented in her book.

I am excited that at the completion of this workshop we will not only have a single internal and external focus in line with our mission, but that we will also be on our way to putting in place the optimum supporting organizational structure.

I encourage everyone to try to set the time aside to attend this workshop. We understand that some of you may only be able to attend either the morning or afternoon sessions, and that is fine. But, we ask that you please be on time for the sessions you are attending, as we will be working through a process and it can be very disruptive to have folks come in late to that process.

Date: Saturday, April 5

Place: Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, 687 Larch Ave, in Teaneck

Time: 9:45 Coffee and Donuts
10:00 Organizational Structure Session
12:30 Lunch (Provided)
1:00 Ministerial Options Session
3:30 - 4:00 Adjourn

Thanks,
See you all there,

Jon
